The Vulture’s Return
Màquia Serveis Ambientals, a company serving the conservation of biodiversity since 2006, offers interesting activities and guided tours focusing on the knowledge and observation of wild birds in their environment. Our guides and instructors are directly involved in different conservation projects and study of birds, small groups offering visitors a unique opportunity to discover the different aspects of bird’s life in a respectful and sustainable way. At the same time, thanks to the agreements with NGOs, many of the collected funds are reinvested in the financing of projects and actions to protect birds and their habitats.
The reintroductory project of the Griffon
The griffon vulture regains its dominions in 2005 with the birth of the first chicken after consolidation of the first breeding pairs of the species, all as a result of “Canyet Proyect”, a successful reintroduction project which begun in 2000 by NGO “Associació per a la Protecció dels Animals Salvatges FAPAS-Alcoi.”
The environment
Itineraries frame up in the natural protected are of Natural Park of the Sierra de Mariola, constituting a protected area of 17,000 hectares.
Visits and guided tours for all ages
As a company directly involved in the “Canyet Proyect” for the recovery of griffons in the mountains of Alicante, Màquia offers a unique opportunity to discover and meet this great carrion, visiting the project facilities in the rural setting of the Natural Parc of Serra Mariola. Also, thanks to the observatory conditioned on the dunghill of the project, you may discover vultures feeding groups. We also offer guided tours inside the ravine “Barranc del Cint” to be able to watch these birds in their breeding colony located in these towering limestone walls flown by the majestic silhouette of vulture.
